Our Roots
The Project
An exhibition to experience the roots of IKEA, with all your senses. A story that tells the visitor about the history and culture of Småland and Sweden.
The Work
As Curator I led a big team to realize this new exhibition. My personal responsibilities were to lead the project, create learning goals, research the subjects and create the content.
Appreciation
‘Intelligent, efficient and brave are words that come up when I think about Annemieke.
I’ve had the pleasure of working together with Annemieke with creating overall storylines and ideas for the new main exhibitions at IKEA Museum. I was particularly impressed by how quick she is, both in mind and in execution. Her ability to see the big picture without losing the details was a great asset in the work we did together.
As a team member or leader – I would highly recommend Annemieke.’

Appreciation
‘I have worked with Annemieke in the process of transforming parts of the IKEA Museum in Älmhult into new, more efficient and attractive exhibits. We have worked very well together and I have appreciated her active listening, team-working skills and leadership. Annemieke is intelligent and analytic as well as able to formulate the results of the process in short and relevant communicative text. She has excellent skills as a Curator but I would warm-heartedly recommend her in any creative process. I also appreciate her humour and straightforward as well as brave approach to life and work.
The old British expression “Bright as a button and sharp as anything” comes to my mind when I think of her.’
